Candy Crush Soda Saga Gameplay

Since this game is so similar to the original, it will be focusing on the differences between the Soda Saga and the original Candy Crush. While Candy Crush Soda Saga also involves matching candies, a significant twist is the introduction of soda bottles. Matching these fills the level with soda, causing candies to float upwards, which introduces a new strategic layer to the puzzle.

Special Candies

Candy Crush Soda Saga has the same special candies as the original, with one addition – the Coloring Candy! Stripped candies, wrapped candies, color bombs, and candy fish all return. However, you are now able to create candy fish on the board! Check out the table below to find out how to create the two new special candies in Candy Crush Soda.

Types of Levels

The biggest difference between Candy Crush Soda Saga and Candy Crush Saga is the types of levels. There are 7 different types of levels in Candy Crush Soda Saga – Soda Levels, Frosting Levels, Bubble Levels, Chocolate Levels, Honey Levels, Bubble Gum Levels, and Jam Levels.

Soda Levels

Soda levels are the first level type introduced in the game, with Level 1 being the first time they are shown. To win a soda level, the player has to pop a certain number of bottles, to raise the level of soda to the top of the board.

Frosting Levels

In these levels, you must find all the amount of bears in frosting to progress. Make matches on top of the frost to reveal the gummy bears underneath. Candy Crush Soda Saga Level 6 is the first example of this type of level in the game.

Bubble Levels

Bubble levels can also be known as the the bear above the candy string levels because the objective of the level is to get the bear above the candy string (who would have guessed?). This is done by clearing soda bottles until the soda level rises above the candy necklace. Once that happens, you are able to clear candies above the bears to make them travel upward until they are above the candy necklace. The first instance of this type of level occurs in Level 9.

Chocolate Levels

To complete a chocolate level, you must remove all the chocolate from the board. Chocolate can be removed by making matches or using special candies on candies that are currently touching the chocolate. However, if you do not destroy at least one piece of chocolate during your turn, the chocolate will spread by one tile. Level 32 is the first time that a chocolate level can be found in the game.

Honey Levels

Honey levels are similar to chocolate levels where you must make a match or clear candies next to the honey for it to disappear. However, honey does not spread over the board if you do not clear it during your turn. Honey can also have up to 6 layers before you free the bear from the honey. The first honey level of the game is Level 31.

Bubblegum Levels

To win a bubble gum level, the player has to chew all the bubble gum on the board. The objective is similar to that of chocolate levels. If a move is made in which no gum is destroyed, it spreads by one square before the player is allowed to make the next move. It can do this either by occupying an adjacent square or by adding a layer to the current square, which traps the candy on that square. Level 166 is the first bubblegum level in Candy Crush Soda Saga.

Jam Levels

To win a jam level, the player has to spread jam everywhere. Unlike other level types, the jam must be spread over the entire board. Jam can be spread by matching candies on the existing jam. Jam levels can be some of the most difficult levels in the game. The first time a jam level is seen is Level 256.
